Predicting the solubility of substances is quite difficult. In general, polar solutes dissolve in polar solvents, and nonpolar solutes dissolve in nonpolar solvents.

In general, the solubility of solids in water increases with increasing temperature. On the other hand, the solubility of gases in water decreases with increasing temperature.
