Elucidating an intricate description of the chemical and physical properties described by the periodic table is appropriate. However, many of the properties most interesting to chemists, like electron affinity, are not interesting or obvious to students. Thus, a more subtle identification and description of overt chemical and physical properties of specific elements can serve to be stimulating, motivating and conceptually easier for students.
