A tradition in organic chemistry is to name a reaction after scientists whose names are most closely associated with the discovery and development of that reaction. Examples of named reactions are Claisen condensation, Michael addition, Friedel-Crafts acylation, Diels-Alder addition, and Wolff-Kishner reduction.

Smith at the University of Connecticut posts a page of named organic reactions.
