Vernier CO2 gas sensor. Several experiments are suggested in the brief manual for this probe.

It probably is a good idea to try to tie chemistry and biology together in this topic area. The principal energy driving reactions in biology all are redox reactions. In respiration, CO2 is produced; in photosynthesis, it is consumed.

Experiments with the dissolved oxygen probe are included in the course on Water and Solutions.

The probes for these experiments are expensive. On 10/6/06, the CO2 probe was about $250. The dissolved oxygen and oxygen gas probes were just under $200.
