The reaction quotient [local] is the numerical value of the terms in the mass action expression, often represent with the letter Q:

Reaction Quotient

The numbers in the parentheses are the non-equilibrium values for the concentrations.

When Q = K, the system is at equilibrium.
When Q < K, there should be a net conversion of reactants into products.
When Q > K, there should be a net conversion of products into reactants.
