Acid snow, like acid rain [local], is increasingly acidic precipitation caused by the burning of fossil fuels. Acid snow has special properties [local] different from acid rain.

Use Judith Halstead's activity 'Spring Shock!: Impact of Spring Snowmelt on Lakes and Streams' from The Journal of Chemical Education to introduce acid shock to students.
