Gas Chromatography (GC)

Thin layer chromatography is similar to paper chromatography. Thin layer stationary phases are gels applied to plastic or glass plates. Thin layer plates are available commercially. These plates separate analytes more quickly and more sharply than paper because the gels are more uniform. A broader range of solvents are also possible with thin layer plates than with paper. Otherwise procedures and applications are similar.
