Carbon dating [local] is one of the most often used methods for determining the age of objects in the range of 500-30,000 years old. There are several threats to reliability [local] in carbon dating. Carbon dating sometimes becomes involved in significant contemporary issues such as in the Shroud of Turin study [local], the Dead Sea Scrolls [local], or the Wooly mammoth [local].
