If a fraction of all isotopes are radioactive, that means that radiation is all around us [local]. The radiation that we unconsciously receive from our environment is referred to as background radiation. Yet, other conscious sources such as medical x-rays and our annual travel plans also add to our annual exposure. Calculating your annual radiation dose can be surprising.
