A13 Barking Dogs -- White Phosphorus, Air, and Carbon Disulfide

Description
Filter papers are placed on top of two graduated cylinders that are different sizes. White phosphorous dissolved in carbon disulfide is dropped on the filter papers. After the carbon disulfide evaporates, the finely dispersed white phosphorous reaction with air ignites the filter paper and the explosive mixture of air and carbon disulfide in the graduated cylinder. The frequency of the sound of the explosion depends on the cylinder size.

Equation
P4 (white) + 5 O2 --> P4O10
