B06 Colorimetric Glucose Determination with Glucose Oxidase
Description
An orange color is generated as the product of two enzyme reactions. First glucose oxidase oxidizes glucose and forms hydrogen peroxide. The hydrogen peroxide oxidation of o-dianisidine is then catalyzed by horseradish peroxidase to form an orange compound. Three different concentrations of glucose are shown.
Equation
glucose + H2O + O2 (glucose oxidase cat.) --> gluconate + H2O2
H2O2 + o-dianisidine (Peroxidase cat. )--> oxidized o-dianisidine
