Research/Creative Activities
David Brooks' current work focuses in two areas.
- The development materials for Web-based instruction. This is an extremely wide-ranging interest. Essentially, anything related to Web-based learning is fair game. Much of his teaching and writing focuses on Web-Teaching issues. As far as materials he creates to exemplify the principles he espouses, a primary target remains chemistry instruction.
In the summer 1998, his work developed an intense focus on graduate postcertification content instruction for inservice high school chemistry teachers emerged. He continues to work on college chemistry curricular materials.
- Also ongoing is collaboration in the development of self-regulation strategies for teaching chemistry and in materials for teaching these strategies once tested.
At any given moment, he tends to shift the division of his energies among these areas.
